Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
On Monday evening between 7:30 and 8:00 pm, residents of several areas in Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur district, reported seeing two bright, flickering lights in the sky. The unusual sighting prompted local concern and speculation about the nature of the lights, with some people suggesting they could be drones or satellites. The incident caused noticeable disturbance among the community.
Mrityunjay Vishwas, the town inspector of Raiganj police station, confirmed the sighting of the two bright points in the sky. He stated, “I also saw two bright points. But it does not seem like they were drones because they were flying at a very high altitude.” The police superintendent of Raiganj, Sana Akhtar, also confirmed that these lights were not drones. However, the source and purpose of the lights remain undetermined.
Similar reports of mysterious lights were noted in the Balurghat area of South Dinajpur district, although no official response has been provided by the police in that region. The phenomenon is under observation by local authorities as the exact nature of these lights is yet to be established.
This sighting follows a recent pattern of increased aerial activity in border regions after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Several drone sightings have been reported recently in border areas and over Kolkata, leading to heightened alertness among security agencies. The current event in Raiganj is being monitored in the context of these ongoing security concerns.
